Swim Defiance offers a chipped timed 3K, chip monitored 3K Julie Montiel Friends and Family Wave and a chip timed 5K event;

3K Event Information

The 3K event will start by taking a 15 minute Washington State Tahlequah ferry at 11:45 am to the Vashon Ferry dock. Swimmers will disembark and enter the water at the beach north of the yellow buoys that are southwest of the ferry dock for a 12:15 pm race start (24 minutes before a 12:39 pm slack high tide). The Julie Montiel Friend and Family chip monitored wave will start with the chip timed wave. The 3K swim cut off time is 2 hours after the start of the race.

5K Event Information

5K event starts FIRST at 11:15 am (1:24 minutes before a 12:39 pm slack high tide) in-water between two orange buoys in a clock-wise, triangular swim course from Owen Beach around two cylindrical yellow buoys near Vashon Island and will finish with a beach exit across a timing mat. This year we have added a strobe light on shore on the Vashon side to help with sighting to the two turn buoys. The 5K swim cut off time is 3 hours after the start of the race.
